Late April is always a bit of a cinematic blitz for Boston cinefiles. That’s when IFFBoston takes over three of our favorite local theaters (Somerville, Coolidge Corner, and Brattle- the trifecta) for a full week of some of the best upcoming indie films.
I would be lying if I said I wasn’t disappointed in the general lack of genre film at this year’s fest. Don’t get me wrong- the lineup is impressive. But from the fest that has brought us UNDER THE SHADOW, THE TRIBE, BLACKCOAT’S DAUGHTER, and WILLOW CREEK, it’s a bummer to not see any standout horror or scifi this year.
(That being said, fans of Gothic horror might want to visit EDGAR ALLEN POE: BURIED ALIVE.)
Even without any genre heavy-hitters, it looks to be another stellar fest, and I hope to get some reviews up soon!
