Fund This Film: POWERBOMB Forms A Tag Team Combo of Horror and Wrestling

I have two great loves in life: professional wrestling and horror movies. If I spent a fraction of the time I do pursuing, consuming and dissecting these two endeavors on my studies, I’d have two doctorates by now.

Therefore it warms my heart and brings me great joy to let our readers know that the fine folks over Sickening Pictures and Turnstile Films are combining those two great tastes into one fine independent feature film. Combining a psychological thriller with the thrills of in ring psychology, this is a project that has me super excited to see the end result. The Two Person Powertrip of Zach Shildwachter and BJ Colangelo begin filming the project in May. In order to create the stunts, special effects and action they need to bring their film to life, they’ve started an IndieGoGo campaign with the hopes of raising $10,000 to put towards the project.

POWERBOMB tells the story of one indie wrestling icon looking to walk away from the squared circle to spend time with his family and a rabid super fan that refuses to let go. In the filmmakers’ own words: Powerbomb is the story of an independent wrestler on the verge of breaking into the big time, but he’s contemplating leaving it all behind to spend more time with his family. When our wrestler’s biggest fan hears the news, he decides to take matters into his own hands to ensure that his champion gets to the top by any means necessary.

In order to make as authentic a film as possible, the production team has enlisted the help of local indie wrestling promotion Absolute Intense Wrestling. The Cleveland based promotion has employed superstars such as Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Johnny Gargano, and AJ Styles back when they toured the indie circuit.

Below is a proof of concept video for the project along with a passionate pitch, or promo, for your hard earned cash from Coangelo and Shildwachter. Click here to contribute to the IndieGoGo campaign.

Film Thrills marks his attempt to take things up a notch, expand his viewing and writing horizons and to entertain and engage his audience while doing so. When Mike's not writing or watching movies, you can find him reading to his little girl, or doing science experiments with her, or trying to convince her that the term "chicken butt" comes from people putting chicken nuggets down their underwear. at age five, she's too smart to believe most of what he says.
